London Southend Airport

London Southend Airport is proving to be a massive success story for the town, with the potential to handle up to 2 million passengers a year.

London Southend AirportThe airport has created a two phase plan to ensure successful growth. A number of the phase one projects are in the early stages of development, including a new control tower, a high quality hotel and a dedicated railway station. These are scheduled for completion in 2009. The phase two projects, which include a brand new re-sited terminal building adjacent to the new rail station and an improved, potentially lengthened runway, would be a catalyst for growth and provide focus for the Joint Area Action Plan launched by Southend and Rochford Councils earlier this year.

In recent years there has been significant expansion, with a host of new organisations being attracted to the business parks in close proximity to the airport, creating many new jobs and opportunities.

The airport is particularly well placed to serve London during the 2012 Olympics and is potentially a huge asset for businesses looking to relocate to Southend.
